Siskiyou Land Conservancy
Protecting California’s Wild North Coast and Rivers Since 2004

Siskiyou Land Conservancy is a small but effective non-profit organization in Northern California dedicated to protecting biological diversity and building sustainable communities. Our work covers five counties containing key habitat for many endangered species: Humboldt, Mendocino, Del Norte, Siskiyou and Trinity.

Siskiyou Land Conservancy founded in 2004 to fill a niche not satisfied in Northwestern California. Our founding board wanted to create a land trust that would take title to, and hold conservation easements on, private properties not served by other land trusts — usually small parcels that hold, and connect, important riparian and terrestrial habitats. In this work we have been successful. Siskiyou Land Conservancy also is the only organization dedicated to eliminating excessive pesticide use on bottom lands that surround the vital Smith River estuary, in Del Norte County.

As a land trust, Siskiyou Land Conservancy currently owns two parcels, and we protect three others by holding conservation easements. In 2016 SLC will protect a sixth property, on the Mad River in Humboldt County. For more on the properties we protect click here.
